I attended Otis School of Fashion where I graduated, with honors, in 2002 - attaining a Bachelors of Fine Arts. From there, I started my career as the Head Designer at Remy Leather Fashions in Downtown, Los Angeles - a small, family-owned company where I designed both the Men's and Women's jackets, created workbooks, styled photoshoots and would even stand in as a model at trade shows. At Remy, I learned about leather tanning and garment construction, making annual trips to Itay for Linea Pelle and to visit with tanneries.
In 2005, I moved to Columbus, OH, to work for Abercrombie and Fitch. I designed Men's non-denim bottoms for Ruehl No. 925, four seasons annually.D uring this time, I made countless wash and development trips overseas to China, Hong Kong, India and Sri Lanka to work first-hand on my product categories.
In 2006, I was promoted to Senior Designer of Outerwear and Non-Denim Bottoms for Ruehl, but I missed Southern California and decided to return home.
I moved into the Action Sports Industry In January of 2007, becoming the Senior Designer of Outerwear and Wovens for Foxhead, Inc. Outerwear sales increased 400% my first season.
At Fox, I expanded my knowledge-base, learning about a multitude of techniques for art treatment - including engineered and sublimated printing as well as High-Density Printing techniques and building Thermo-Plastic Resin Trims.
I demonstrated leadership skills as an Outerwear Designer, by traveling to Canada, Australia and Europe, to meet with the leaders of Fox's global Sales Team, and to do competitive and inspiration shopping. After a few short years, I worked my way up to Design Director of the Men's Team - at the time this included Wovens Shirts, Denim and Non-Denim Bottoms, Fleece, Knits, Boardies and Men's + Jr's Outerwear - managing a team of 12 people at it's largest.
In 2012, I was part of the original team who launched Fox Active. Leading up to the launch, I partnered with the Director of Performance Soft Goods to source the newest innovations in fabrics from Taiwan, Korea and South America - vising ASR and fabric mills overseas. I worked directly with Pete Fox, the CEO, to ensure fits were accurate and all detailing was functional.
In 2014, I left Fox and began work as a Freelance Designer. My clients include Skechers USA, where I am currently working side-by-side with the VP of Apparel to bring the Performance Apparel Line in-house (a line that had previously been liscensed out.)
Because of my diversified background, I am able to work on a large breadth of product with confidence and skill. I have a fantastic network of contacts, both in the US and overseas, for design, development, sourcing and production.
